The Coalition for Networked Information had been working on their transition to a new WordPress powered website when they asked me to help out in the summer of 2011. The scope of my involvement with the CNI site was to help implement a failover from the new site to the retired legacy site when browsers tried to get URLs that were not present in the new CNI site. This failover ensures that old links and citations wills till retrieve the information they were designed to retrieve, but that the reader would also know that a new website was now available with updated information. The technique used was a javascript “wrapper” approach I developed for the Digital Library Federation.
