DLF WordPress III Proposal

Since March 2011 I’ve been supporting the DLF website with about an hour a month of my time. I have just been asked to extend this support for six months, but with a couple special duties added. This proposal describes the deliverables, costs, and timeline for supporting the DLF website through February 2012.

Orienting new staff

CLIR has added a new DLF administrative assistant, Jena Winberry, who needs some orientation to the DLF website.

Deliverable 1: remote telephone or skype session to review site guidelines and practices.

Cost: $600

Helping manage Forum presence on website

The DLF Forum will be held at the end of October. Until then, and for a little while after, special attention is needed on the information about the Forum being presented via the website.

Deliverable 2: coordinate staff working on Forum presence and be available for editorial assistance on Forum pages.

Cost: $600

Availability for support

WordPress is relatively easy to manage and has been getting simpler to work with as it matures. However, the DLF theme is a bit of a kluge since it will be adapted from Drupal with many odd choices still intact. DLF would like to have assistance available to tweak the theme and help with advice and instruction. Tasks include:

  • limited theme changes to accomodate evolving practice
  • availability to answer website related questions by phone and email
  • occasional troubleshooting of content issues (fixing HTML in posts or pages)

This requires a retainer equivalent to roughly one hour of my time per month, for six months (September to February).

Deliverable 3: A support resource for Rachel and other CLIR staff managing the DLF site.

Cost: $900 ($150 per month)

Putting the picture together

As a consultant, I do not charge by the hour. The costs above will be charged as a flat rate. These costs total $2,100. I will submit an invoice for $600 at the end of September, an invoice for $900 at the end of October, and an invoices for $300 in December and February for the ongoing support.
