[As a first step in understanding the DLF web site and what the staff have learned about it over the years, I am constructing a questionnaire for the staff to answer. ...Eric]
The answers to these questions are only to be used to give me the background I need to structure a meaningful conversation during our first conference call. Basically, I am trying to come up to speed here and you are my guides. I am looking for your personal take on these questions, not an "official" DLF answer. If you feel you need to convey the official DLF line, feel free to do so, but please label it as the official line and then follow up with a personal take even if that's something like "that speaks for me too".
I am not looking for full sentences or grand verbiage, just jotting notes is enough to answer these questions. Though some of these are hard questions and may require some consideration, I expect this should not take more than an hour of your time to fill out.
Thanks!
...Eric

What is the mission of the DLF? (no peeking!)
-
What is the mission of the DLF's website?
-
Who does the DLF website have to serve?
-
What functions does it provide for each of the constituencies you identify in #3?
-
What are some of the questions people come to the DLF site to answer? Write down at least five examples.
-
Over the years, what is the most consistent feedback (positive or negative) you have heard about the DLF site? Try to list three messages you have heard in order of frequency.
-
How often do you need material added to or removed from the site and what sort of material is this?
-
Do you add and remove material yourself?
8.1. If not, who does this for you?
8.2. If not, would you want to do this yourself?
8.3. If so, who else asks you to do this for them? -
If you could wave a wand and change one thing about the website, what would you change and how would it be different when you were done?
-
Who else is doing the business of the DLF? In other words, when you consider the DLF mission (#1) and the mission of its website (#2), who else is serving this mission today?
-
Finally, DLF-related web content you have developed outside the DLF site. In your work for the DLF, when have you had to develop a web presence (homepage, wiki, blog, archive, etc.) for a DLF initiative outside the DLF site? Please list the initiative, the resources you engaged beyond the DLF website (include the URL if that's easy to come by), say a few words about why you went beyond the DLF site to do this, and provide a brief status report. For example: "Initiative: Aquifer, Resource: Wiki (https://wiki.lib.umn.edu/Aquifer/Wiki), Why: no capacity for group collaboration on DLF site, Status: dead, see Basecamp."
Thank You!
