DLF Website

The Digital Library Federation (DLF) is looking for a reconsidered web presence. How do we think about what the DLF web should be?

Early Planning

A functional requirements project proposal.

Some use case brainstorming.

The functional requirements report.

An RFP development project and the RFP itself.

Working on a website implementation project draft.

A glimpse of the DLF filesystem back in April 2008.

A few more use cases about working groups.

Redesign

The DLF hired eCoreExperience to redesign the site. There are many documents that are part of the eCore work not represented here. Barrie Howard should have a full record of this work.

Some early eCore homework.

A response to the content matrix homework.

A deconstruction of the existing site. (September 2008)

Final navigation map for new site. (September 2008)

Wireframes for the new site. (October 2008)

Illustrations of design concepts. (October 2008)

The result of this redesign (and some subsequent cleanup) can be seen at the Drupal site http://new.diglib.org.

Cleanup

The eCore redesign was not ready for immediate deployment. We decided some cleanup was required and gave ourselves a few months to do this work. The early 2009 actions page documents this cleanup.

In the spring of 2009 the DLF board voted to re-merge with CLIR. The new website, on track to be deployed in May 2009 was instead abandoned. Plans called for the last half of 2009 to be used for transition of DLF back to CLIR and planning what would be an appropriate presence for DLF on the web in 2010 and forward. Meanwhile, the old DLF site would be moved to a new hosting venue that was less costly than the old.
